**Pricing includes 10% benefit to The Telling Room, tax and gratuity as well as the five course dinner. Wine pairing will be optional and additional the night of the event.**


Just in time for the spring equinox , we are excited to announce our 3rd Annual Farmer Appreciation Dinner! This year proceeds will be benefiting Portland-based The Telling Room. The benefit will support The Telling Room's food writing youth camp. Solo Italiano is teaming up with TTR and Maine Food for Thought food tours to explore the rich and dynamic food narratives at play in the state of Maine. Students will enjoy a donated tour of six acclaimed Portland restaurants, including Solo Italiano, enjoying delicious seasonal tastings and learning how Maine's people, environment, and economy interact to shape a celebrated food destination. They will end their week with “a day in the life of the restaurant,” planning a menu, sourcing food, and preparing a dish alongside Chef Paolo Laboa. All will be captured and shared, of course, in writing, from each student’s own unique perspective!

Guests are encouraged to call the restaurant for more details, but night of the benefit dinner will flow as such:

  • Guests arrive around 5:30pm for socializing.

  • Everyone is seated at 6pm for introductions and first course.

  • Based on takeaway from last year’s gathering, guests will be seated community style.

  • Throughout the five courses of Chef Paolo’s special menu, guests will hear from a few of our guests of honor including: The Telling Room, Maine Food for Thought and a few of Solo’s dearest Farmers. We will discuss how each of our roles in the food system allows us to contribute to the telling of its story.

  • Silent Auction (a first this year!)

  • Again, the five-course wine pairing will be optional and additional the night of the dinner.
